As reported by the LA Times today, (see article link below), the role of nurses is going to expand in the coming years. As nurse practitioners begin to take on the role of primary care providers, at some point, new regulations are bound to arise. That means that the California Board of Registered Nursing will be busy, and as nurses do more, their licensure not only becomes more important and lucrative, but even more important to protect against complaints, investigations, and actions (Accusations, Citations and Reprimands) by the California Board of Registered Nursing. With more responsibility comes with more regulation. So, stay tuned for what might arise in the days and years to come, as not only the role of nurses expands, but the laws that regulate their professional practice.
